There's something nesting in one of our boxes!

Tania looks up into the box with the nest.
Today, April 5, 2011, Tania Nachsel came along with me to help me out with the monitoring of the Clear Creek Bluebird Trail.  On our last box, Tania opened the side door and exclaimed, "Hey!  There's something in this box!"  Sure enough, inside box #3 was the beginning of a small nest made of moss and lichens.  This definitely is not a bluebird nest, as bluebirds will usually make their nests out of pieces of grass, so we are thinking it possibly could be Chickadee taking up residence in our box. We looked around the area for signs of birds close by, but didn't see any.  Even though it isn't a bluebird, we were still very excited to find our first nesting bird in one of our boxes.
The nest is made of moss and lichens--possibly a Chickadee?
